We are a team of 20 professionals who are involved in a variety of technically challenging projects and has industry leaders collaboratively delivering strong technical solutions. Our teams’ core focus are large multidisciplinary infrastructure projects in South-East Australia, but we support projects across the broader ANZ (Australia New Zealand) region as well as Asia and Middle East. These include projects in the rail, road, aviation, urban development, renewable energy, and defence markets. We are involved on all phases of projects from planning, ground investigation through to detailed analyses and design, and all the way to delivery including construction phase services. To support the demand for our services our Ground Engineering and Tunnelling team in Melbourne requires continual growth.
Job Summary
We have an opportunity for an Associate Director - Ground Engineering and Tunnelling with at least 15 years of industry experience to join the team and help us deliver the exciting projects.

You will get support and guidance from our industry leaders in the fields of geology, geotechnical as well as structural design and project delivery.

**Responsibilities**:
Your demonstrated experience in a design consultancy and in a variety of project delivery mechanisms, together with strong technical capability will enable you to deliver geotechnical designs from options-analysis through to detailed design while mentoring more junior engineers.
To be successful, you will have a proven track record delivering technical projects and be conversant with standards applied to civil and building projects in Australia. We are looking for a senior team player with good skills, knowledge, and experience in geotechnical engineering / engineering geology. Your key duties and responsibilities will be, but not limited to:
+ Supporting the growth of the business and team by active involvement in a wide variety of projects and pursuits.
+ Overseeing, preparing and reviewing engineering reports and documentation.
+ Assisting in the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects for an array of local, national, and international clients.
+ Being active in professional technical bodies such as Engineers Australia and Australian Geomechanics Society, Australian Tunnelling Society or similar.
+ Managing and training our junior team members through a combination of “on the job” training and internal presentations.
+ Leading project teams in the delivery of design packages or projects.
+ Providing input, peer review and verification of geotechnical data and analyses as well as design calculations based on sound technical understanding and experience.
+ Providing advice to our contractor partners during all stages of the project life cycle including site-selection and optioneering, design and construction.
+ Effectively managing geotechnical projects including planning and developing schedules, co-ordination and delivery to meet objectives and programme.
+ Effectively manage internal and external client relationships and expectations.
+ Working collaboratively with other members of the Ground Engineering and Tunnelling team as well as members of Transport, Water, Power and Buildings and Places teams providing inputs to project works and tenders.

+ Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering including, but not limited to design of shallow and deep foundations, earthworks, ground improvement, slope stabilisation and ground retention.
+ Extensive knowledge of ground characterisation and various geotechnical aspects in a variety of ground conditions and on a variety of heavy civil projects.
+ Strong sense of engineering risk and ability to communicate those and ability to identify practicable industry accepted solutions.
+ In depth knowledge of relevant Australian and International standards as well as local road and rail authority standards and specifications.
