- About the Role:
We are currently seeking to appoint a full-time Schools Engagement Manager to The Salvation Army’s Victoria Division. Reporting to the Public Relations Secretary (VIC) and working alongside the National Schools Engagement Team, the Schools Engagement Manager will enrich the Salvation Army’s engagement with schools through the development and delivery of meaningful workshops, school events and resources regarding social justice and the work of The Salvation Army.

Based from the ‘Salvos Schools’ CBD classroom, you will lead the team of Victorian Schools Engagement Coordinators and deliver student workshops, including the popular ‘Youth Homelessness City Tour.’ You will develop divisional schools content in relation to Salvation Army campaigns and areas of our work. This role requires you to foster and manage relationships with Victorian educational bodies, predominately primary and secondary schools.

Within the role, you will engage school communities in key campaigns, deliver educational workshops, and nurture opportunities for engagement in line with the schools engagement strategic direction and the objectives of the broader PR Team.

Key Responsibilities:
You will be successful in this role if you can:

- Effectively lead the team of Victorian Schools Engagement Coordinators
- Network with educational bodies to see schools engagement increase overall
- Provide creative program development to see students meaningfully engage with the Salvation Army
- Positively facilitate and engage students in a number of educational workshops, experiences and activations
- Cultivate and manage high-level school relationships and effectively support internal stakeholders
- Coordinate and deliver all components of the school workshops, including face-to-face education, administration, safeguarding/WHS and evaluation
- Lead, encourage and support school activation activities
- Maintain a continuous improvement strategy for all components of the schools engagement program

Qualifications and Experience:

- Knowledge of and experience in the education sector
- Program development experience
- Sound project management skills including the ability to manage long term projects
- Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent risk management capacity and strong child-safety orientation.
- High level communication skills, both in written correspondence and verbally, including in forums of public speaking, particularly workshop facilitation
- Builds rapports easily and effectively with a wide audience, including leadership and youth
- Strong knowledge of social justice issues
- High level of competency in computer skills with Microsoft Office including Word, Spreadsheets (Excel), Power Point and Internet

Educational Skills Required:

- Tertiary qualification in education/communications/community development/youth work/social work or equivalent skills gained from relevant experience.
- Valid Drivers Licence
