About the Role

In this full-time, hybrid permanent role based in Blackburn, you’ll report to the General Manager, WHS, and collaborate as part of a dynamic national team of experts. Your role will be to engage and inspire leaders and employees within Employment Plus and across The Salvation Army’s Headquarters, promoting a safety first culture and driving the implementation of our WHS Management System. You’ll play a pivotal role in advancing a mature, resilient safety culture that reflects the Salvos mission to care for people.

Key responsibilities:

- Shape and promote a proactive WHS culture across The Salvation Army, instilling best practices and a strong commitment to safety.
- Support the development, review, and implementation of the WHS management system to elevate our safety standards and achieve lasting outcomes.
- Lead the critical risk identification and control program within Employment Plus, Eva Burrows College and The Salvation Army headquarters in Blackburn.
- Monitor incident reports, follow up on WHS actions, and ensure effective responses across areas of responsibility.
- Facilitate thorough incident investigations and risk assessments, ensuring that identified controls are robust and effective.
- Implement forward-thinking risk prevention initiatives focused on promoting safety, health, and wellbeing.
- Contribute to a nationally consistent WHS audit and risk framework, enhancing compliance and operational safety.
- Deliver engaging training sessions on WHS and wellbeing topics, equipping our teams to foster a safer work environment.

ABOUT YOU

The role will ideally suit someone with demonstrated experience in Work Health and Safety roles preferably in non for profit and/or health care related industry. You are a people person with high engagement levels and excellent relationship building capacity to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

Key capabilities include:

- Certificate IV in Workplace Safety (or equivalent), equipping you to meet today’s WHS demands.
- Solid understanding of WHS management systems and their implementation principles.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of WHS legislation and codes of practice, which guide your day-to-day decisions.
- Your experience with audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments is comprehensive and hands-on.
