**Role responsibilities**
The Business Development Specialist will report to the Head of Business Development and will play a critical role in supporting the achievement of organisational growth objectives. You will use your initiative to identify, plan and drive activity in your target market to expand your network and raise awareness of the organisation, but working in collaboration with internal stakeholders will be important to be a success in this role.
- Identify and develop positive relationships to grow referral pathways across a variety of stakeholders (from individuals to organisations aligned with the disability services sector) and be able to communicate technical and product knowledge with confidence, driving growth and development across target markets.
- Horizon scanning for new strategic partnerships, and building on existing relationships with stakeholders, providing solutions where needed or increasing services provided.
- Providing expert advice in ensuring new clients are supported appropriately and receive the best match from the services on offer.
- Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders (service development, operations and marketing/communications to name a few key teams) to best respond to the opportunities in the market such as potential clients and referral pathways.
- Planning, and delivering on projects on time and on budget.
- Frequent travel will be an element of this role, in order to target key markets and regions.
**Essential Requirements**
You will be driven, passionate, and able to work autonomously - but be able to check in when required to ensure you are aligning with business processes and organisational objectives.
- You will have sector experience and a passion for relationship building, or you will have a passion to learn about this incredible sector with robust business development skills and experience.
- Experience in identifying and building new relationships, with a strategic eye on how to expand existing relationships.
- Strong business acumen and ability to identify new opportunities, be comfortable understanding and interpreting contracts and other corporate documentation.
- Be outcomes-driven with a proven track record of successfully meeting KPIs - with exceptional time management and project management skills.
- Strong computer proficiency and record-keeping skills with a discipline for follow-up in order to foster relationships.
- Well-developed negotiation, problem solving, written and verbal communication skills.
