**How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne**
This position is responsible for leading a team of four staff plus specialist contractors from time to time.
The Manager Council Business is the senior governance practitioner in the team, responsible for ensuring that the team effectively delivers key governance and statutory obligations, providing advice, developing policy and delivery of governance projects, while ensuring that staff understand and meet the expectations of their role within the team.
The Manager Business Council participates in the Council’s Performance Management framework - the Goals and Performance Appraisal (GPA). This involves planning and agreeing work and skill development objectives, and reviewing and assessing achievements on a regular basis. The position implements the GPA process with staff, provides timely and effective feedback to staff, and identifies opportunities for individual growth and development.
In respect to infringement notices issued arising from or in connection with Council’s elections, the employee falls within the definition of ‘enforcement agency’ under the _Infringements Act 2006_.
