An exciting opportunity exists for a Discovery Services Librarian (EMu) to join our dynamic team.
- From the pro-rata equivalent of $99,739 to $108,138 (HEW 7) p.a. plus 17% super and annual leave loading
- Part-time, 60% FTE continuing
- Based at Wallumattagal campus, North Ryde.

THE ROLE

This is a key role in the Discovery Services team which is part of the Resources and Discovery Unit of the Macquarie University Library. In this role, you will provide advice to, and work with the Manager on, strategic issues and directions of library and museum technologies, including library management systems, discovery systems or museum systems. You will undertake core configuration, data quality management and system administration to ensure the procurement, management and discovery of library, museum, and cultural collections meet the learning, teaching and research objectives of the University. This position will focus particularly on museum systems, and integrations with related discovery systems.

About You

You have demonstrated knowledge of integrated museum systems, library management and discovery systems, metadata creation, standards and workflows and experience in configuring and supporting integrated museum and library systems, library discovery services and other associated technologies.

You use your knowledge of current and future directions of library automated systems or museum collection systems to provide advice to senior management and inform strategic directions.

You will have working knowledge of museum or cultural collections workflows and practice in procurement, discovery, and management of the research/scholarly communication lifecycle, and of relevant legal and regulatory issues associated with licensing, intellectual property, open access and copyright.

You use your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and manage relationships including with external partners such as vendors, and system suppliers and collaborate effectively with stakeholders including system users and other technologists.

The Library is responsible for administration of the University’s cultural collection management system EMu. Axiell EMu Collections Management System is the control system for University owned artworks and objects across cultural collections including the art gallery and museums. The IMu collections portal is used as the discovery system but future plans could involve integrations with the Library’s Primo discovery system or other external resources.

To Apply
- Degree in a relevant discipline such as information management or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, qualifications and training.
- Understanding of trends in library, museum and discovery technologies, with a track record of contributing to system enhancements, projects and initiatives that improve workflows, processes and/or client-experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of metadata schema and standards, with the ability to ensure accurate data exchange and data quality and maximise discoverability.
- Demonstrated experience configuring and supporting museum collection systems, integrated library management systems, library discovery services and associated library technologies to enable access to scholarly collections and resources. Recent experience with Axiell and/or Ex Libris products is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent written and oral communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate appropriately with clients, colleagues and vendors
- Experience in collecting, analysing and interpreting data, including customer insights, and initiating and delivering service and process improvements
