THE ROLE

This is a role in the Collection Strategies team which is part of the Resources and Discovery Unit of Macquarie University Library. Collection Strategies manages and develops the Library’s collections, focused on collection strategies for procuring and maintaining collection resources in all formats but in particular relating to electronic formats.

Your role in the team will develop, implement and deliver services in the area of procurement, resource management in all formats, including: eresource management, reading list management, collection assessment, discovery, or scholarly information/research outputs

About You

You will draw on your demonstrated knowledge of integrated library management and discovery systems, metadata creation, standards and workflows and knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in Library workflows and practice in procurement, discovery, and management of the research/scholarly communication. You will have knowledge of legal and regulatory issues associated with intellectual property, licensing and copyright particularly as it relates to the team focus aspect of resources acquisitions, access.

You will have experience with working with external partners such as vendors or suppliers and system suppliers and will have skill and experience in providing advice and support for collections, content procurement and access issues.

To Apply
- Degree in a relevant discipline such as information management, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, qualifications and training.
- Proficiency in the use of integrated library management systems, discovery systems and associated library technologies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of scholarly publishing, open access, licensing, copyright, and intellectual property, with the ability to contribute to planning and evaluation of collection services and strategies related to procurement, eresource or reading list management, and access.
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of advice and solutions to library colleagues or clients regarding collection procurement and access.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to contribute positively to team outcomes, including providing peer support to assist team processes and workflows
