**Manager, Closing The Gap**

NSW Department of Education has an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced individual to join the Aboriginal Outcomes & Partnerships team as the Closing the Gap, Manager.

**About the role**
- Manage, develop, and implement project methodology, standards, and tools to ensure successful delivery of strategic projects for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and communities.
- Establish and implement reporting frameworks for monitoring key projects and programs.
- Develop and implement strategies and tools for continuous project monitoring, including risk & contingency management, impact assessment, and quality measurement.
- Address issues and evaluate project progress and effectiveness.
- Cultivate collaborative relationships with project leaders and senior stakeholders, assessing cross-functional teams and providing coaching and support to enhance project management capabilities and outcomes.
- Encourage extensive stakeholder engagement and cooperation in processes while respecting existing best practices and departmental governance.

The Aboriginal Outcomes and Partnerships Directorate (AOPD) values its strong partnership with the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc. (NSW AECG) and communities in supporting NSW Public schools to deliver high-level, quality teaching to maximise learning outcomes for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.

The Closing The Gap, Manager will oversee the enhancement of operational processes for the support of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families, students, and staff, with a focus on amplifying their voices. This role involves establishing governance structures for cross-departmental decision-making and ensuring accountability and transparency in meeting objectives defined by these communities. Additionally, the position will be responsible for refining project management and reporting practices, tools, and systems to promote collaboration, alignment with departmental goals, and ongoing improvements. Close collaboration with the NSW AECG will be a key aspect of this role.

**About you**
- Appropriate tertiary qualification and/or extensive experience in supporting complex or sensitive projects, including the high-level ability to set clear goals and implement systems to ensure projects meet agreed objectives.
- Knowledge of State and Commonwealth commitments to closing the gap.
- Demonstrated experience in risk and contingency management.
- Demonstrated experience managing project teams.
- Excellent communication (both written & and verbal) and strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills

**Key Knowledge and Experience**

Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

**Essential requirements of the role**
- A valid and current working with children check for paid employment
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
