QIMR Berghofer is a world-leading translational medical research institute focused on improving health by developing new diagnostics, better treatments and prevention strategies, specifically in the areas of Cancer, Infection and Inflammation, Brain & Mental Health, and Population Health. Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is home to more than 600 scientists, students and non-research staff.

**About Research Ethics & Clinical Trials**:
The Research Ethics & Clinical Trials Office manages the interface between Ethics Committees, researchers and state, federal and international regulatory bodies, ensuring QIMR Berghofer’s ethical systems and processes are effective and support researchers. This position sits _within the broader Research Governance and Funding Department._

**Role Purpose / Responsibilities**:
Applications are invited for the role of Human Research Ethics Advisor at QIMR Berghofer. The following duties will apply:

- Provide high level advice on research ethics compliance and legislative requirements.
- Develop and maintain research ethics policies and procedures.
- Prepare compliance reports and formal reports for the Ethics Committees, Director, and Council.
- Develop and deliver training programs on ethical research conduct.
- Coordinate/provide secretariat support for ethics review committees.

**About you**:
To be successful in this role, you will need:

- A degree qualification in a relevant field with substantial relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in an academic or medical research organization.
- Experience in providing high-level secretariat support to review committees.
- Highly developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with strong relationship management abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to provide sound research ethics advice to researchers.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to adhere to strict deadlines and manage conflicting priorities effectively.

**Remuneration**:
This is a full-time appointment for 1 year.
