**The Team**

Major Works is the major brownfield construction team at Sydney Trains. Providing Engineering and Maintenance work across the Sydney Trains Network. There are over 1000 staff in the directorate which operate in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary project environment.

**The opportunity**

Right now, we have an opportunity for an experienced Business Improvement Manager to join our Major Works division team who are responsible for delivering maintenance and renewal of existing infrastructure assets across the Sydney Trains network and enabling and supporting Transport infrastructure investments in the rail network.

The vision for Major Works Division is to become the deliverer of choice for rail infrastructure modernisation projects in Sydney Trains. To achieve this, it is focussed on delivering projects which are commercially competitive and meet the desired timeframes and quality and safety standards.

Reporting to the Associate Director Project Engineering & Support, you will be responsible for:

- Driving continuous improvement initiatives. This position will provide leadership, planning and direction to explore new process improvement opportunities.

**What you will be involved in**
- Driving process improvement, developing an environment which fosters the opportunity for operational improvement initiatives to be identified, developed, and implemented across the Division.
- Identifying projects/ initiatives to achieve improvement outcomes.
- Developing business cases, briefing papers, budgets, and project plans, managing the required approvals process and deliver them efficiently.
- Managing delivery of projects including management of project teams, (secondees, business representatives and/or contractors).
- Manage all commercial aspects of improvement initiatives / projects including budgets, procurement and tracking of benefits.

**About you**

You will be involved as Chair of the Steering Committee so need excellent communication, stakeholder relationship management and negotiation skills as well as demonstrating an inclusive and supportive management style adaptable to a team with varying skills and experience; being able to mentor and coach the team and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
