**The Opportunity**:
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 5 Building Management System Services Assistant within Property Services Branch.

The Maintenance Services section is the maintenance authority for Australian Parliament House (APH) and is responsible for repairs and maintenance of the building's structure, fabric, finishes, landscape and all engineering services including air-conditioning, power, lighting, hydraulic services and movement systems. The BMS Services Assistant role forms part of a small team responsible for ensuring the effective engineering, management, and operation of the day-to-day operations of the BMS.

**Who we are looking for**:
As part of the a team, the successful applicant will be required to contribute to the overall service delivery of the section by undertaking tasks including, but not limited to preventive, emergency and corrective management of the BMS. The successful applicant will assist BMS technicians with fault finding and ensuring the BMS infrastructure is effectively operating. The BMS Assistant will also assist the Maintenance Help Desk with duties as required.

The role requires working with a wide variety of clients, internal and external to APH, in a dynamic work environment where priorities and deadlines frequently change.

The successful applicant will be well-presented, professional and have excellent communication skills.

**Job Specific Requirements**:

- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS), Microsoft Excel and Computerised Maintenance Systems Trade qualifications desirable.
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.

**Immediate supervisor**: PSL6 BMS Technician

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 5 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Assist BMS technical staff with the monitoring, investigative and improvement duties on the Building Management System (BMS), including:
a. alarm monitoring, system fault identification, and operating anomalies.
b. time-scheduling changes, point switching, graphics and point building.
c. trending analysis, system reports, data collection (incl. energy and water).
d. general system interrogation, optimisation, and corrective measures and
e. support as required for trade areas to fault-find and resolve technical issues.

2. Input accurate information and technical data in the computerised maintenance management system (SAP) and other relevant databases or reporting systems. Manipulate data and extract reports and information from the systems and BMS as required.
3. As required assist the Helpdesk to log calls from building occupants, determine priorities and arrange for all necessary action by contacting the relevant Maintenance Services trade staff, contractor or relevant area during busy periods and sitting weeks.
4. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, internal and external stakeholders, and service providers to ensure positive customer outcomes.
5. As required provide after-hours support to ensure ongoing availability and operation of the Helpdesk during Parliamentary sitting periods, weekend maintenance activities and through the Duty Officer role when the Helpdesk is unattended.
