The Manager Environmental Sustainability has responsibility for leading the Victorian Health Building Authority's (VHBA) work on delivering sustainable and resilient health care capital projects. The role will drive systemic change to embed sustainability and climate adaptation into VHBA's project management framework.

The role will provide technical advice to key stakeholders during the project's lifecycle from masterplan through to detailed design and capture benefits of building sustainable and resilient hospitals. The role will develop and maintain comprehensive technical guidance on sustainability in capital works and represent VHBA on relevant working groups and forums.

**Accountabilities**
- Provide authoritative advice, reasoned recommendations, and innovative solutions to systemise the integration of sustainability and climate adaptation into the healthcare capital program from masterplan through to detailed design.
- Build the sustainability and climate adaptation capability of VHBA staff and other key stakeholders through developing and maintaining comprehensive technical guidance and delivering training programs.
- Work effectively within a complex multi-disciplinary environment to ensure sustainability and climate adaptation solutions are integrated in the capital program, ensuring alignment on design, whole-of-life costs, and constructability.
- Align the team with the organisational values and goals through effective people management and modelling; maximise effectiveness by selecting, developing, managing, and motivating a high performing team, clearly define role expectations, monitor performance, provide timely and constructive feedback and facilitate employee development; ensure staff are effectively deployed through effective workforce planning practices.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
- Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring, or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
