**About the Organisation**

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses, and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more. **About the Role**
- The Coordinator Housing, Safety and Reconciliation leads a diverse team that works across the organisation and with a range of external stakeholders to deliver Housing and Homelessness response, Community Safety and Wellbeing and First Nations planning. Key roles will include:

- Coordination of Council’s commitment to Reconciliation, self-determination and cultural safety ensuring strong relationships with the Registered Aboriginal Parties, Traditional Owner Groups and the local indigenous community.
- Guiding policy and delivery of Council’s housing and homelessness programs, including the implementation of In Our Backyard - Growing Affordable Housing Strategy, the Port Phillip Zero collective impact project and partnered response to rough sleeping within the City
- The development and delivery of Council’s Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan and Public place CCTV Policy supporting internal and external partnerships that promote and support community safety.
- Advice and support to Councillors through the Management team.

**Duties**:

- Lead the Housing, Safety and Reconciliation unit and provide support and supervision of staff to ensure an appropriately skilled, aligned and engaged team
- Lead and manage Council’s Housing and Homelessness, Food Security, Public CCTV, Community Safety and First Nations portfolios incorporating programs and advice at a unit, division, wider organisation and community level.
- Work with the manager and general manager to ensure compliance with all reporting, contractual and legislative obligations, and provision of advice including preparation of high-quality Council briefings and reports, as required.
- Deliver high quality, responsive activities and programs that build community, create connection and reduce isolation.

**Skills and Experience**
- Comprehensive knowledge, experience and interpretative skills in relation to strategic issues and emerging trends in community to lead First Nations and Reconciliation planning, Affordable Housing, Homelessness, Food Security and Community Safety
- Extensive understanding of service provision to those of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the ability to implement social justice principles in addition to good business practice.
- An understanding of, and experience in working with people experiencing disadvantage (including people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness).
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in managing staff and with a track record of building high performing teams that are aligned, engaged, and collaborative.
