About the Role


We are looking for an experienced leader with a background in transport safety engineering/ strategic transport within a local or state government environment.


Reporting to the Manager of Partnerships and Transport, you will be responsible for leading the Transport Safety Team to deliver a busy program of work balancing competing priorities across multiple projects and customers.


In this role you will use a high degree of autonomy and initiative to provide creative and strategic solutions to parking and transport issues associated with a changing and growing population within an established inner-city context.

Duties:

  • Manage and develop an effective, engaged and busy team of nine engineers and support staff.
  • Effectively influence key stakeholders to achieve organisational priorities across significant internal and external projects and issues
  • Lead the delivery and management of transport safety engineering projects and provide professional input to projects
  • Oversee responses to community and customer to provide exemplary customer service
  • Exercise level 4 management and other legislated role related delegations and decisions

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, registered in Victoria or in a process of being registered.
  • Victorian Driver Licence and VicRoads Licence verification.
  • Extensive experience in the transportation management field in Local Government context.
  • Extensive experience in managing and leading staff and providing excellent customer service.
  • Extensive experience in relevant policy areas and using conceptual thinking to provide strategic direction.
  • Broad project / program and budget management experience.
