- The Food Services Department of The Canberra Hospital seeking experienced persons to fill the position of Patient Services Supervisor to coordinate the patient services’ functions in the day to day running of the department in the areas of plating and delivery of meal to patients and clients. The successful applicant must have senior supervisory experience and industry recognised qualifications in food safety, staff competency-based training and hospitality management. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of office computer systems as well as Food Service Management IT Systems and need to possess oral and written communications skills of a particularly high order.- The Infrastructure and Health Support Services (IHSS) is responsible for facilities and asset management, delivery of capital and minor projects, and infrastructure services, support and operations. Food & Sterilising Services is a branch of IHSS which is responsible for Sterilising services and Food Services for Canberra Health Services. The function of the Food Service Department is to prepare and serve meals and beverages to patients, staff and visitors, as well as the provision of services to other facilities of Canberra Health Services north and south of Canberra. The Food Service Department prepares, cooks and serves an average equates to approximately 3000 meals daily for Canberra Health Services and National Capital Private Hospital. Food Service is organised into the following functional areas:
- Food Service Administration.- Operation Support Services - Food preparation and Food Production.- Patient Services:
- Meal Plating and Rethermalisation
- Meal deliveries to patients o Menu monitors.
- Cafeteria: Food, meals and drinks for staff and guests.- Stores; Receipt, dispatch and storage of perishable and non-perishable food supplies.- External sites: Dhulwa and other Community Centres.**DUTIES**:
- Under limited direction of the Assistant Director Food Services you will perform duties required of the Supervisor.- You will:
- Lead and supervise the designated team in Food Services to meet a patient focused operational service. Engage in a wide range of activities and responsibilities for the designated operational functions, exercise a high degree of initiative, judgement and flexibility in solving problems including, but not limited to:
- co-ordination of resources,
- oversight of training and competency,
- performance management,
- staff rostering,
- recruitment,
- oversight safety measures,
- review work methods and oversee quality control,
- developing and updating procedures,
- estimation of costs,
- ensure area is secure, o assist with procurement, and
- assist in administrative duties.
- Implement and maintain within the allocated budget
- Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) to ensure food safety compliance. o the Food Standards compliance, nutritional compliance
- accreditation and Regulatory Requirements.
- Food Safety Program
- Liaise and collaborate with Nutrition Department and clinical staff for service delivery, consumer feedback and business continuity based on departmental policy.
- Provide technical support in the management of the daily tasks involving trouble shooting and the escalation process and contingency requirements of the relevant IT system.
- Lead change management, review workflows, recruitment and improvements in continual quality patient focused service.
- Lead change management and promote a positive team environment in which emphasis is placed on individual responsibility and empowerment as part of a positive work environment / culture.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.
