**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
The Alcohol and Drug Services is a part of the division of Mental Health, Justice Health and Alcohol & Drug Services (MHJHADS), which is contemporary, evidence, based service providing high quality Alcohol and Drug Services (ADS) guided by the principles of harm minimisation. The ADS incorporate 6 areas including the Opioid Treatment Services, Medical Services, Consultation and Liaison Service, 10 bed Inpatient Withdrawal Service, Police and Court Drug Diversion Service and Counselling and Treatment Services.

Alcohol and Drug Services provides information, advice, referral, intake, assessment, and support for ACT residents struggling with substance use issues. We offer services for individuals, their family and friends, general practitioners, other health professionals, and business and community groups.

The ADS are seeking an administrative assistant to provide high level administrative support to staff supporting people with substance misuse disorders in the public health sector, specifically clients referred by ACT Policing and ACT Courts for assessment and referral to treatment. This includes managing referrals, reporting on data, and assisting with the strategic and operational processes of the Diversion service.

**DUTIES**:
Under limited direction of the Administration Manager you will perform duties consistent with an administrative role. You will:

- On a monthly and annual basis assist the administration manager in obtaining data collections in relation to the National Minimum Data Sets (NMDS).
- Communicate and liaise effectively within the team, with management, clients and other key stakeholders regarding complex, sensitive client queries/complaints or other business of Alcohol and Drug Service.
- Monitor and manage the flow of all correspondence, and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Manage the daily administrative activities of the Police Court Drug Diversion Service including telephone calls, correspondence, diary management, taking minutes, data collection, completing referrals, and liaising with other members of the service.
- Undertake tasks and initiate action to ensure the timely response to requests for information.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

**Position Requirements/Qualifications**:
Previous experience in Administrative Role

CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates and contingencies.

Have an understanding of how the National Standards and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.

Fulfil the responsibilities of this role as detailed in the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework and all other related frameworks.

Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.

Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.

**Note**: This is a temporary position available for six months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
