We are looking for a motivated individual with a keen interest in audiovisual culture and a desire to contribute to the NFSA's vital work collecting, preserving, and sharing Australia's audio-visual history.

**National Film and Sound Archive**

The National Film and Sound Archive’s (NFSA) purpose is to tell the national story in all its rich diversity by collecting, preserving and sharing audiovisual media, through the creativity and history represented in film, television, radio, recorded sound, augmented reality, online, videogames and associated contextual documentation and ephemera.

The NFSA is the custodian of Australia’s analogue and born digital national audiovisual collection which contains over 4 million items. Our primary focus is on Australian production and Australian related production, but we also address key international influences on our culture.

**Cultural Connections Team**

Focussed on telling the national story through flagship programs such as NFSA Restores and Sounds of Australia as well as building relationships with festivals, national collecting institutions, FIAF, DFAT and other cultural organisations. The team will work with other areas of the agency to achieve positive public and industry facing outcomes.

**Job Details**

Under close supervision as a member of a team, undertake the following duties:

- Provide administrative assistance for a range of projects (e. NFSA Restores, Sounds of Australia, etc), including collection research, media formats, data quality, profiling the collection etc.
- Undertake a range of project logistics tasks, including preparing and delivering digital files through FTP platforms, invoice payments, and logistics.
- Undertake a range of accessioning tasks, including born-digital materials according to the NFSA’s standards and guidelines, as well as digital ingest tasks.
- Provide accurate and detailed collection descriptions, including identification of media formats and collection condition information as part of the accessioning process.

**Selection Criteria**

In relation to the ‘Job Details’ listed above, concisely describe your skills, experience, and achievements against each of the following areas:

- Experience in research and accurate record keeping combined with demonstrated administrative problem-solving skills, and proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of collection description, handling, and control of collection materials in an archive, museum, or library environment, ideally with reference to audiovisual materials.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and to undertake tasks requiring patience and ability to respond in an agile fashion with mínimal supervision.
- Communication skills, both oral and written.
- Fair knowledge of and interest in Australian history and/or the audio-visual and screen industries.

- Relevant experience in a collecting institution and/or audio-visual industry is desirable. Library, Archive or Museum qualification and/or other relevant tertiary studies are desirable.

**Eligibility**

To be eligible for this position you must:

- Be an Australian Citizen
- Satisfactorily complete an Australian Federal Police National Police Check

The other eligibility that may be included in a job would also include the following:

- Obtain and maintain an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance.
- Obtain and maintain a Working with Vulnerable People registration.
