The National Film and Sound Archive’s (NFSA) purpose is to tell the national story in all its rich diversity by collecting, preserving and sharing audiovisual media, through the creativity and history represented in film, television, radio, recorded sound, augmented reality, online, videogames and associated contextual documentation and ephemera.

The NFSA is the custodian of Australia’s analogue and born digital national audiovisual collection which contains and unbroken record of life in Australia, and of Australian creativity.

**About the Position**
We seek an energetic and motivated Curatorial Officer to join the Content and Interpretation team in the Curatorial and Accessioning section. The role is responsible for providing curatorial support for the conception and delivery of innovative projects ranging from exhibitions, experiences and programs that inspire and engage audiences. The role assists with collection activities across all types of audiovisual materials, in both analogue and digital formats, provides research and assists with the creative development of projects in collaboration with internal departments.

Desirable skills include an understanding of audiovisual materials in the analogue and digital archiving space, audiovisual curatorial skills, strong administrative skills, and experience in a creative field.

**Job Details**
Under general direction, and in collaboration with the team, undertake the following duties:

- Undertake collection activities relevant to projects, including accessioning, acquisitions, research tasks, collection handling activities.
- With curatorial rigour, assist to coordinate tasks related to project outcomes including managing digitisation and conservation requirements in collaboration with internal teams
- Maintain internal stakeholder and external relationships

**Selection Criteria**
In relation to the ‘Job Details’ and the team outlines listed above, concisely outline your skills, experience, and achievements against each of the following areas:

- Demonstrated skills and experience working with audiovisual collection, including collection handling experience, and knowledge of, Australia’s audiovisual industries that complement the delivery of projects.
- Proven knowledge and experience of working with archival, collections and/or audiovisual media
- Demonstrated experience working closely with internal and/or external stakeholders with confident and clear communication skills

**Qualifications and/or equivalent experience required**:

- Relevant experience in a collecting institution and/or audio-visual industry is desirable. Library, Archive or Museum qualifications and/or other relevant tertiary studies are desirable.

- Satisfactorily complete an Australian Federal Police National Police Check
