**The Opportunity**:
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for an ongoing PSL6 Digital Curator within the Art Collections team. The Parliament House Art Collections are nationally significant collections consisting of more than 6,500 works spanning all genres of Australian art. The Art Collections perform a unique role in the life and working environment of Parliament House.

The collections were created to be an essential element of the building’s architectural fabric and working life reflecting the unique qualities of Australia. They include the Historic Memorials Collection, Parliament House Art/Craft Program (architectural commissions), Official Gifts Collection, Rotational Collection of contemporary art and Archive Collection of supporting material. The Art Collections team is responsible for the custody, care, development, and promotion of the Parliament House Art Collections.

The successful applicant will manage a range of key research projects and digital engagement activities, aimed at improving the ways in which we interpret and provide access to our collection through a variety of channels.

**Job Specific Requirements**:

- Tertiary qualifications in History, Visual Arts, Museum and Heritage Studies, Australian History, Political Science and Research, or a similar field would be highly desirable.
- Previous experience using SiteCore, Vernon Collection Management System (CMS) software and Digital Asset Management Systems will also be highly regarded.
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 6 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Manage and provide oversight of curatorial review and enhancement of collection information for the Parliament House Art Collections (PHAC), including the review of collection documentation for completeness, accuracy, and functionality.
- Supervise a small team delivering curatorial research projects for the section, including ensuring the collection items are correctly provenanced and described, and providing expert advice and assistance to team members to ensure maximum curatorial efficiency and appropriate consultation.
- In consultation with senior management, develop procedures and initiatives to maintain and improve management and accessibility of digital assets and collection assets to best-practice standards.
- Build and foster effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and provide advice, technical guidance, and where relevant, training or mentorship to support staff development for a range of engagement activities for DPS.
- Employees of DPS are required to be able, and to be seen to be able, to provide professional advice and services to all Senators and Members without favour or prejudice._

- Demonstrated experience in research, writing, presenting and publishing high quality curatorial work in relation to Australian art history, parliamentary, or political history across multiple platforms within a cultural institution or similar organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead curatorial projects, employ project management tools, and maintain processes in delivering high-quality work on multiple projects with conflicting time frames.
- Capacity to develop procedures and initiatives to maintain and improve accessibility of digital assets and collection assets to best-practice standards.
- Demonstrated highly developed communication skills and the ability to work productively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and to cultivate productive working relationships with colleagues, clients, and artists.
