**Position Overview**
The Assistant Director, People and Culture is responsible for assisting the Director, People and Culture to deliver a broad range of human resource strategies, services, information and advice in accordance with relevant Commonwealth legislative and policy requirements.
The Assistant Director will be join the People & Culture Leadership Team and must be client-focused, have strong leadership skills and experience, demonstrate well developed written skills, including attention to detail and ideally has relevant experience working in human resources in a Commonwealth Public Service agency or department.
- x1 role will be focused predominately on HR Projects including Workplace Well being, Performance Development and Diversity and Inclusion.
- x1 role will be focused on supporting the HR Advisory team with high volume operational HR and recruitment work.
- x1 role will be focused on Employee and Industrial Relations.

**Duties**
The Assistant Director, People and Culture is responsible for:
- Working closely with the Director, People & Culture, managing work across one or more functional HR area including recruitment, work health safety, case management, policy and training.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, statutory obligations and accounting standards.
- Making decisions in accordance with delegated authority from the Director, People and Culture.
- Advising on and assisting with the development of new and innovative HR strategies.
- Advising on dispute resolution and recommend solutions or alternative courses of action.
- Responding to reporting requirements in an accurate and timely manner.
**Selection Criteria**
- Demonstrated experience as a senior HR practitioner, preferably within a large or complex industrial environment.
- Demonstrated human resource experience relevant to a Commonwealth Public Service agency or department including an understanding of the relevant legislation and policies issued by Commonwealth agencies and departments.
- Personal leadership and people leadership experience.
- High-level interpersonal skills with an ability to partner with leaders to influence positive and sustainable outcomes.
- Strong written skills with a high level of attention to detail.
**Other Requirements**
- Some interstate travel may be required.
- Relevant experience in the delivery of human resource services in a Commonwealth Public Service department or agency (two years or more and at the executive level is preferable).
