**About the Role**
As the Research Ethics Officer (Human Research Ethics), your role sits within the Ethics Shared Service, in the Office of Research Ethics and Integrity. You will support researchers through the process of Human Research Ethics review, with a focus on service provision and continuous improvement of operations. You will act as Secretary to 1-2 Human Research Ethics Committees, provide advice to researchers and committee members at all stages of review, and work with colleagues to progress team goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Contribution to the creation, implementation, review and ongoing development of guidelines and procedures relating research with people, their information and biospecimens
- Interpret the National Statement, Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and other relevant guidelines and legislation to provide expert advice to committee Chairs, committee members and researchers to ensure that research complies with external requirements
- Management of records and enterprise information systems pertaining to human research ethics

**Who we are looking for**
We are seeking a highly proactive Research Ethics Officer who can effectively work autonomously and flexibly under pressure to prioritise workload to meet deadlines whilst maintaining accurate records and service quality. Your advanced oral and written communication skills will assist you to liaise and deliver training to individuals of all diversities. You will consistently maintain a high level of judgement, sensitivity and confidentiality when addressing issues in relation to human ethics.

You will also have:

- An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and specialist expertise/broad knowledge in administrative fields; or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training, preferably in a university/research environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of the requirements of the National Statement, relevant Commonwealth and State legislation and external regulatory bodies
- A sound understanding of qualitative/quantitative research methodologies and related ethical issues
