**Selection Criteria**:
1. Demonstrated capacity to work with staff, parents, and students in the delivery of Wellbeing Services in the context of a secondary school environment.

3. Demonstrated ability to provide appropriate recommendations to staff and families to support the needs of individual students, for example - behaviour management, student learning and social and emotional interventions.

4. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.

5. Demonstrated ability to engage in evidence based short-term counselling, deliver group interventions and provide appropriate referrals externally based on student needs.

**Role**:
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction mínimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.

Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employees position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

The Student Wellbeing Counsellor will be responsible to the Principal through the Assistant Principal, and the Student Wellbeing Coordinator. In addition, they will liaise with Year Level Leaders, Coordinators and Teaching Staff to assist with the school's response to the wellbeing needs of students and their families.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work collaboratively with the Student Wellbeing Team in the provision of student wellbeing programs and counselling;
- Provide direct services to students including short term counselling, triage, risk assessment and crisis intervention;
- Support health promotion initiatives in the College;
- Maintenance of confidential files and records in accordance with professional guidelines, ethical codes, health records and privacy legislation;
- Support staff in their roles, by providing secondary consultation;
- Provision of Professional Development to staff on a range of student wellbeing issues.
- Other duties as directed by the Principal, Assistant Principal and Student Wellbeing Coordinator.

**Who May Apply**:
