**About the team**:
The Science Division is seeking passionate and motivated people to join our team and help us build and leverage Australia’s science capability to increase national prosperity and wellbeing.
The Science Division delivers policies and programs that help inspire, connect and empower Australian science to be world leading. Our teams do this by helping to solve problems and address barriers to the science and research system, growing opportunities for all Australians. Our work is delivered through five branches:
- Australia’s Chief Scientist and Office of the Chief Scientist
- Science Policy and Governance
- Science Strategy and Priorities Taskforce
- Astronomy
- Research and Collaboration
- The ability to contribute to strategic planning for short, medium, and long-term priorities
- Experience in driving and delivering complex and sensitive work programs
- The ability to conduct research and analysis to support policy and programme development
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, in particular the demonstrated ability to provide sound advice and prepare written reports and briefings
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage governance and administrative processes
- The ability to identify and address areas for improvement to support the delivery of efficient and effective policy and programs
- Understanding of the importance of workplace culture that embraces safety and security and is collaborative and inclusive
- Interpersonal skills that foster trust and cooperation, and a proven ability to work effectively and with integrity
- An ability to work in a fluid environment, remaining flexible, agile and adaptable supporting colleagues at short notice
**What you will do**:
We are seeking energetic and highly motivated leaders with a desire to learn in a dynamic environment in the following roles:
- **Policy development** - help us turn ideas into actions with your experience in leading and delivering in government, institutions and businesses.
- **Programme management** - help us manage critical investments
- Delivering the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) - a mega-science investment inspiring the next generation of radio astronomy capability.
- Helping to shape our science policies and programs to inspire the next generation of scientists.
- Working with our incredible science agencies - securing Australia’s future nuclear medicines capability with ANSTO and empowering CSIRO’s missions to deliver industries of the future.
- Overseeing our flagship Cooperative Research Centres Program, supporting collaborations between industry and researchers.
