The Veterans’ Systems Assurance & Support (VSAS) Section, part of the ICT Delivery Branch under the Finance, Technology and Insights Division, is a critical link between DVA business delivery areas and our ICT Shared Services provider
- Services Australia. This section manages ICT systems which support the provision of veterans’ payments, services and other benefits; maintains system capabilities and processes; undertakes quality assurance and implement controls to address audit requirements.

The Operational Support Officer will be part of the multi-disciplinary VSAS team. As part of the team, the Operational Support Officer will provide problem solving, attention to detail, testing and business analyst skills to ensure our systems continue to meet business requirements.

**Duties**
- Management of system incidents and problems. Identify business impacts, business priority, system workarounds and defect resolution
- Undertake detailed analysis and interpretation of business processes. Develop detailed solution requirements for IT and business. Develop detailed requirements and procedural documentation.
- Support the coordination and quality assurance of cyclical system support activities including bulk payment reassessment, end of financial year processing, concession card issue and advice letter production
- Translate system specifications and requirements into User Acceptance Test strategies and scripts. Conduct User Acceptance Testing activity to ensure that the system changes are fit for purpose
- Support the transition of project activity to BAU
- Work as part of a team to support staff through learning and development opportunities to improve team capacity and technical skill transfer
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships between business and ICT teams across DVA and Services Australia
- Assist with other project related activities or ad hoc ICT requests as required.

**Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to 12 months.

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
