People & Culture Manager

When we think back on our science classes at school, most of us tend to recall beakers and bunsen burners. But while setting stuff on fire is always fun, science class today, and especially a Stile science class, is about so much more.
From lab-grown meat, to the gut-brain axis, or computer-brain implants to working out how we’ll feed a colony on Mars and beyond, Stile is the school science curriculum preparing our young people for the world they’re living in. It’s about equipping them with the critical thinking skills and problem solving tools needed to tackle the big issues of today, and tomorrow.
We think young people everywhere deserve this sort of world-class science education. Today, more than 1-in-3 Australian secondary schools teach with our science curriculum. Tomorrow, the same will be true in the USA.

Our job in P&C is, in theory, a simple one. Create an environment that sets the stage for our team to do the best work of their careers. In practice, we know that doing so comes from getting a bunch of important processes and practices right, and right every time.
As the People & Culture Manager, it won’t come as a surprise that you’ll be responsible for all things people. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the P&C team, develop a world class leadership training program and position Stile as an employer of choice. As we evolve and grow, especially into the US markets, you’ll champion and reinforce Stile’s culture.
Here are some of the things you’ll be doing to help the team revolutionise science education:
- **Lead, mentor and coach a small People & Culture team**
Our small but mighty P&C team manages everything from hiring, onboarding, benefits, facilities, internal events, and more You’ll manage a team of 2-3 people to ensure that all our P&C buckets are engaging and fit for purpose.
- **Lead the development, implementation and improvement of people processes and systems**
Our processes, benefits and policies are constantly evolving to create an exceptional workplace. You’ll have opportunities to update our existing policies and propose new initiatives they’re above industry standards.
- **Help define our future growth plans and people needs**
With our growth and expansion, our team is always growing and changing. You’ll work closely with all leaders of the business to plan for their needs within their departments from hiring to succession planning and everything in between.
- **Provide high-level strategic People & Culture advice to our Executive and Leadership team**
With your constant finger on the pulse, you’ll be all the leaders’ first point of call for assistance. With tools like communication plans, reporting, performance management - you’ll be able to help empower leaders.
- **Help grow our US team**
With our US operations taking off, we want someone who’s interested in understanding the employment laws in different states, benefits, and creating best practices for hiring the new markets we want to dip into.
As our current P&C Manager is embarking on a global move, we’re looking to hire someone by the end of the year before she embarks on her adventure to give you ample time to be trained and work closely with her.

**About you**:
- You have 5+ years experience in P&C. We’re looking for someone who can showcase they’ve had some prior leadership experience, whether directly by leading a team or indirectly, like taking on captain duties in sport. Bonus points if you’ve worked in tech.
- You live and breathe P&C; no task is too big or too small for you. If it’s related to cultivating an engaging, inclusive, and delightful workplace, you’re already two steps ahead.
- You’re able to build connections with everyone you work with. People have confidence and trust you.
- You’re highly organised, meticulous by nature, and treat matters confidentially where needed.
- You can juggle a bunch of different priorities and tasks - keeping them all up in the air.
- You love using data to tell efficient stories about what’s going on in the business.
- You’re constantly trying to find new ways to build scalable practices and leverage technology where you can to save you time.
