About the opportunity

Medical Panels play an important role in the fair assessment of medical disputes under the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensations Act 2013 and the Wrongs Act 1958, hearing around 4,500 referrals each year and producing binding decisions that have a significant impact on injured workers and claimants. Specialist staff are employed by WorkSafe to assist in the administration and management of the operations of Medical Panels.

We are currently seeking a proactive and organised Administration Officer to join Medical Panels in a full-time ongoing opportunity. Reporting to the Legal Manager, this role is vital in ensuring smooth administration operations and providing essential support to key stakeholders, including Panel Members, Convening Team members, and the Legal Team.

Key accountabilities
  • Communicate with and support Panel Members and stakeholders to facilitate timely delivery of decision documents with statutory timeframes.
  • Provide quality control of decision documents, including formatting, grammar checking and minor editorial work.
  • Coordinate the timely release of Medical Panel opinions/determinations in line with legislation.
  • Provide front-end IT support for Panel Members, including secure ID tokens and system access.
  • Assist in training Panel Members on administrative procedures and use of internal IT systems.
  • Offer primary administrative support to the Legal Manager and Advisors.
  • Support other team with administration duties when needed.

About you

You are a self-motivated and detail-oriented administrative professional who thrives in dynamic and fast-paced environments. You're confident with digital systems, have strong communication skills, and enjoy working both independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated skills and experience include:

  • Experience and competency using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook & Excel) and other office systems/databases.
  • Proven experience managing digital files in a complex environment.
  • Administration experience ideally within a medical, legal or personal injury management setting.
  • Strong written and oral communication and experience reviewing complex technical, legal or medical documents.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing and preparing documentation.
