Overview

As a Planning Compliance Officer at Yarra Ranges Council, you will provide effective and prompt planning compliance and enforcement for the Council, the community, and Council staff, helping to mitigate risks to life and property while reducing amenity and environmental impacts.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct timely inspections, apply enforcement actions, prepare compliance correspondence, support legal proceedings, and manage related administrative tasks in line with planning legislation.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that support the implementation and enforcement of planning legislation, Council's Local Laws, and other relevant Acts and Regulations.
Role details

This is a full-time permanent role (38 hours per week). This is a Band 6 role with a salary range of $95,565 to $104,167 per annum, plus superannuation.

Experience and skills
  • Proven ability to organise and deliver clear written communication, adapting style and tone to suit diverse audiences and ensure understanding.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant planning related legislation, standards, enforcement and compliance methods and techniques.
  • Ability to quickly absorb expert knowledge and stay up to date with developments to advise individuals, community groups, developers, consultants, the public, Council and Council staff.
  • Strong customer focus by identifying needs, communicating clearly, and managing customer interactions with professionalism.
  • Great organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate confidently with diverse customers.
  • Ability to investigate, interview, make clear and comprehensive notes and initiate actions through the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and/or Magistrates' Court.
