Role Overview: As a Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in identifying project pipeline activities across the Hunter Valley and broader New South Wales region. You will be responsible for forging and nurturing long-term client relationships, as well as steering the bid and tender process through to successful outcomes. Reporting directly to the Hunter Valley Business Manager, this position is integral to our regional growth strategy and operational delivery, making you a key driver in maintaining and expanding Boom Logistics' presence across mining, construction, and infrastructure sectors.

Central to your responsibilities will be coordinating and managing the entire tender process, from identifying opportunities through to the preparation, submission, and follow-up of bids. You will also lead quoting efforts for larger and more complex projects, ensuring commercial competitiveness and alignment with our strategic objectives. Your success in this role will rely on a deep understanding of client needs, an ability to collaborate closely with operational teams, and a commitment to delivering solutions that reflect Boom Logistics' values of safety, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop, and manage a robust pipeline of business opportunities across the Hunter Valley and broader NSW region.
  • Lead and coordinate the full bid and tender process, from initial scoping through to submission and post-tender negotiations, ensuring competitive and commercially sound outcomes.
  • Prepare and price quotes for major projects, collaborating with operational and estimating teams to ensure accuracy and alignment with delivery capabilities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, with a focus on understanding project drivers, operational needs, and long-term partnership opportunities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key client accounts, managing communication, feedback, and issue resolution.
  • Support the negotiation and administration of contractual agreements, ensuring clarity of scope, risk mitigation, and alignment with company standards.
  • Undertake contract reviews and risk assessments to proactively address potential delivery or commercial risks.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (operations, finance, and compliance teams) to ensure seamless execution of awarded work.
  • Champion initiatives to improve client satisfaction and retention, using feedback to drive service improvements.
  • Monitor business performance metrics and support continuous improvement through data-driven insights.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Proven experience in business development or sales within industrial services, mining, construction, or a related field.
  • Strong capability in managing end-to-end tender and quoting processes, including commercial structuring and risk assessment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels.
  • Solid understanding of pricing models, margins, and how projects are delivered in an operational environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms, with a structured approach to pipeline tracking and client engagement.
  • Highly self-motivated with a proactive mindset and the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Professional presentation and a solutions-focused approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced operational setting.
