Costco Ardeer - Melbourne

Full Time position, minimum 38 hours per week. Rotating roster includes weekend work, early starts, and late finishes.

Job Duties / Essential Functions
  • Develop, coach, counsel, and direct Meat Department personnel.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide proactive feedback to promote teamwork and accountability.
  • Participate in the employment process by making recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination.
  • Participate in Meat Department employee evaluations.
  • Respond to employee concerns using problem-solving skills, tact, and discretion in accordance with the Costco Employee Agreement and applicable regulations.
  • Approve timecards and reports.
  • Implement and uphold proper Meat Department and safety procedures and standards.
  • Log sanitation procedures daily.
  • Follow safety and security procedures; read labels for proper use and precautions of cleaning products.
  • Assist with stocking cases and follow department procedures for quality and consistency.
  • Follow Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) for cleaning and sanitation.
  • Complete safety training and adhere to Food Safety Certification standards.
  • Assist in other warehouse departments as necessary.
  • Determine production needs and participate in meat cutting.
  • Check quality and consistency of finished products; oversee presentation and merchandising.
  • Review sanitation logs and ensure health code compliance.
  • Manage inventory, submit orders to the buying office for equipment, merchandise, and supplies.
  • Provide prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and vendors.
Ability to operate vehicles, equipment, or machinery

Computer, copier, phone, band saw, tenderizer, grinder, wheeled racks, wrapping machine, pressure washer.

Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry-specific skills)

Education / Training: High School Certificate or Trade Qualification (Butcher).

Licenses / Certifications: None required.

Experience / Skills: Supervisory or leadership experience, butchery, meat cutting, or comparable experience, strong customer service, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, problem-solving and critical thinking, basic knowledge of Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets), AS400, and basic math skills.

  • Rotations into other departments or areas of the business to support career development.
  • Successful candidates will undertake role and department-specific training within designated timeframes.
