Meat Department Supervisor Job

We are seeking a Meat Department Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our meat department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring high-quality products, and providing exceptional customer service.

This is a full-time position that requires a minimum of 38 hours per week. You will work on a rotating roster that includes weekend shifts, early starts, and late finishes.

  • Manage and supervise meat department personnel to ensure excellent customer service and efficient workflow.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide regular feedback to promote teamwork and accountability.
  • Participate in the hiring process by recommending candidates for positions within the department.
  • Evaluate and assess the performance of meat department employees.
  • Address employee concerns using problem-solving skills, tact, and discretion.
  • Approve timecards and reports.
  • Implement and maintain proper meat department procedures and safety standards.
  • Log sanitation procedures daily.
  • Familiarize yourself with safety and security protocols; read labels for proper use and precautions of cleaning products.
  • Assist with stocking cases and follow department procedures for quality and consistency.
  • Adhere to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) for cleaning and sanitation.
  • Complete required safety training and adhere to Food Safety Certification standards.
  • Collaborate with other warehouse departments as needed.
  • Determine production needs and participate in meat cutting.
  • Ensure the quality and presentation of finished products.
  • Review sanitation logs to ensure health code compliance.
  • Manage inventory, submit orders to the buying office for equipment, merchandise, and supplies.
  • Deliver prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and vendors.
Vehicles, Equipment, or Machinery

You will operate various tools and machinery including computers, band saws, tenderizers, grinders, wheeled racks, wrapping machines, and pressure washers.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or trade certification in a related field.
  • Licenses or certifications: None required.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a meat-related industry.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets), AS400, and basic math skills.
