Overview

Join the Mentor Parent Pathways role at MAX. This role supports the ParentsNext program, a government initiative designed to assist eligible parents to plan and prepare for employment by the time their children go to school. It operates in all non-remote areas of Australia. The role works with disadvantaged parents to help them prepare for return to the workforce by setting education and employment goals, developing a pathway plan, and linking clients to services and activities in the local community to overcome barriers to employment.

Responsibilities
  • Empower customers by helping them identify individual education and employment goals
  • Provide career advice and labour market information on local employment and education opportunities
  • Collaboratively identify strategies to meet individual needs using a holistic approach
  • Engage with the local community to build relationships and coordinate referrals to community agencies
  • Assist customers to apply for jobs, develop and tailor CVs, prepare for interviews, understand employer expectations, and build employability skills
About You
  • Ability to build relationships within the community
  • Strong interpersonal communication, organisational skills and commitment to customer service
  • Empathetic approach with ability to build trust and rapport
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People or Children Check (or equivalent)
  • Hold a current driver's licence
