Your New Role


Working within our Diversity and Inclusion team, you will leverage your experience and expertise in Indigenous Affairs to develop and deliver Indigenous engagement and participation strategies to directly strengthen Cleanaway's local license to operate and deliver activities that drive improved outcomes for our Indigenous employees, suppliers and communities.


You will work across business units and functional areas to oversee monitoring, reporting and development of strategies and relationships with a variety of Indigenous groups.

You will also work with Reconciliation Australia to develop a new Reconciliation Action Plan and ensure ongoing management and delivery of the RAP activities.

While every day will be different, some of the key activities you will complete include:

  • Liaise with Reconciliation Australia and internal stakeholders to develop and deliver upon the actions within a Reconciliation Action Plan
  • Provide support to create sustainable employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Provide support and manage projects around employment and engagement to make Cleanaway a truly inclusive place to work and grow
  • Advise and advocate for change with HR and stakeholders on the barriers to inclusion for Indigenous peoples
  • Provide specialist advice to a range of stakeholders on strategic Aboriginal employment and engagement activities
  • Build and maintain relationships with community to encourage employment opportunities and engagement

Your Skills & Experience

  • An understanding of the issues affecting Indigenous peoples, and an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous peoples
  • Experience with project development/planning and/or Reconciliation Action Plans
  • Enthusiasm and energy to create meaningful and strategic outcomes
  • Ability to influence and create change
  • Demonstrated selfstarter and ability to work autonomously across multiple business lines and as an external facing representative of the business
  • Stakeholder management skills, including an ability to liaise with and foster effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders such as Indigenous employees, Traditional Owners and Indigenous businesses
  • Facilitation, negotiation and conflict management skills for the management of crosscultural issues.
