About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Indigenous Affairs Specialist to join our team at Service Stream. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial part in advancing reconciliation efforts, leading core initiatives and actions, respecting Indigenous rights and cultures, and integrating Indigenous perspectives into our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Relationship Building: Establish and nurture productive relationships with Indigenous communities, leaders, and organizations through direct involvement.
  • Cultural Knowledge and Sensitivity: Promote cultural sensitivity and awareness within the organization by integrating Indigenous perspectives into daily operations and decision-making.
  • Advocacy and Support: Actively participate in grassroots advocacy and support community members in accessing necessary services and resources.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with government agencies, Indigenous organizations, and industry groups to stay informed about Indigenous issues and opportunities.
  • Consultation and Consent: Facilitate meaningful consultation processes with Indigenous communities for projects impacting their interests or lands, ensuring community voices are heard and respected.
  • Project Management and Reporting: Manage community-based projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with community needs and goals.
  • Education and Training: Develop and deliver cultural competency training and cultural awareness programs for employees and contractors, fostering an inclusive workplace environment.
  • Sustainability and Reconciliation: Collaborate with sustainability teams to align Indigenous affairs efforts with broader sustainability and reconciliation goals.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience working directly with First Peoples communities, proven ability to build and maintain trustful relationships within the community, and a deep understanding and respect for First Peoples cultures, traditions, and values.

As a successful Indigenous Affairs Specialist, you will have hands-on experience in advocacy work, supporting community members in accessing services and resources, and experience in managing community-based projects from inception to completion.
