Where the team fits in

  • The Risk & Assurance Team sits within the Finance & Business Services Group, headed up by Janelle Hopkins. The Finance and Business Services Group, or FaBS as we like to call them, is the engine room of REA Group.


The focus will be to continually improve, develop and evolve the Financial Services risk maturity, so that the network of brokers deliver the highest quality of credit assistance to support customers through their property journey.

Work closely with the Financial Services leadership team to ensure change is delivered effectively, compliance and regulatory requirements are maintained and continually look for improvement opportunities to uplift the control environment.


What the role is all about- Drive the implementation of the REA Risk Management Framework within the Financial Services business.

This includes the development and maintenance of Operational Risk Profiles and Compliance Obligations with linked Controls and Key Risk Indicators. On behalf of Financial Services, review and inform the annual Risk Appetite Statement and limits for approval by the REA Board taking into consideration current and emerging risk appetite and strategic direction Driving a culture that is risk aware and appropriately responsive. Identify, assess, and provide guidance on emerging risks facing Financial Services, REA and the industry Provide change risk management support to the Financial Services business by facilitating and managing risk workshops to identify, assess, and report on key risks and mitigation strategies Provide regulatory change by working with the Financial Services stakeholders and legal, to ensure that all identified regulatory changes have undergone a Business Impact Assessment Take an active role in incident response and management Ensure Business Continuity Plans are developed and maintained for Financial Services in line with BCM Policy that includes regular and ongoing testing Undertake analysis and reporting of key information relating to the management of risk exposures by the business. Provide appropriate insight and information into Risk Committees and assist with the preparation of Governance Packs Manage the ACL obligations, including the obligations for Responsible Managers. Ensure that there are appropriate frameworks in place to manage NCCP and Best Interest Duty obligations for the network of credit representativesWho we're looking for- Strong business/commercial acumen experience in a financial services organisation An inspirational leader who captures the hearts and minds of our people, helps them understand our business strategy and inspires them to action while living our values Experience in mortgage broking industry will be highly regarded Demonstrated ability to translate Regulatory requirements into Frameworks and Policies, as well as ensuring these can be understood at all levels and embedded into business practices Solid understanding of good risk and corporate governance practices Excellent communication and presentation skills - ability to prepare engaging and persuasive messages to internal and external senior stakeholders. Ability to communicate with people at different levels Able to act as a trusted advisor to the CRO, R&A and the Financial Services LT on matters relating to the strategic and operational planning of the teamThe REA experience
