Fire Management Program Coordinator

Lead the fire management coordination, strategic planning, resource and infrastructure planning, operational planning and oversee the delivery of fuel management activities on the newly acquired land parcels across the Melbourne Strategic Assessment (MSA) area.

Work closely with existing fire management teams across the Port Phillip Region to ensure alignment with the Bushfire Management Strategy, the Joint Fuel Management Plan and with biodiversity division to ensure that the conservation land management objectives of the MSA ecological program are met using fire as a land management tool.

This position requires a person with experience and an interest in fire management, ecology, planning and operations.

Success in the role requires excellent relationship and negotiation skills to ensure effective partnership arrangements with state, regional and district DEECA staff and a complex network of external stakeholders and partners.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • An appropriate qualification in science, natural resource management or approved equivalent is desirable.
  • Previous experience working in fuel management or land management programs is desirable.
This is a fixed term position available for a period until 30 June 2026. The work location for this position is Knoxfield with hybrid work arrangements available.
