About the role

The Manager, Donor Experience is a senior role within the RMIT Philanthropy team. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing donor experiences that nurture, engage and inspire our community. This role has been created to enhance RMIT's appeals program as part of the expansion of the fundraising.

The purpose of the role is to increase supporters' lifetime value, reduce attrition, increase second gifts rates and build sustainable acquisition campaigns to increase RMIT supporter base, utilising multiple channels, including events.


To be successful in this position, you'll have:

  • Highly motivated and pro-active with a minimum of 5 years of experience and a proven track record in donor development and direct marketing in fundraising within a major organisation, including appeals, donor acquisition and stewardship programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in segmentation, campaign development and using data insights to inform campaign development.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability design and deliver effective fundraising marketing and communications strategies. Strong copywriting skills and the proven ability to write effective fundraising communications.
  • Excellent relationship building and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, Portfolio staff, University leadership, academics, administrators and students as well as potential donors.
  • Strong track record and proven ability to engage, coach and develop team capability to achieve stretch objectives.
  • High degree of computer literacy including the use of data and databases for fundraising and demonstrated ability to use strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop innovative and creative solutions.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
