Jolly & Sons is a proud family owned and operated business that was established in 1963 as a small fuel distributor in Wheatbelt WA.

Nowadays Jolly & Sons is a nationally recognised transport and logistics firm with a first-class reputation. Boasting a fleet of over 150 assets, Jolly & Sons is emerging as a market leader.

We're looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic General Manager of Operations to manage the day-to-day operations of the Company.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is passionate about operational excellence, has great leadership skills and knows how to build, maintain, and nurture high performing teams.

  • Providing customers services with quality, timeliness & diligence & behave in a manner that meets the expectations of the Jolly Business and their Core Values
  • Promoting positive work relationships & acting early to address interpersonal issues such as stress, bullying, morale, & workplace conflict issues
  • Ensuring the management team understand their responsibilities & accountabilities and that they discharge their duties accordingly
  • Ensuring the effective utilisation/operation of fleet & personnel
  • Ensuring that time critical Administration is being completed in a timely & accurate manner
  • Ensuring operational compliance to our certifications & accreditations such as Road Transport, Chain of Responsibility, Fatigue Management and Dangerous Goods Regulations
  • Controlling the use of Sub-Contractors to minimise cost impacts
  • Responsible for making sure that appropriate training & supervision is received for people in key roles
  • Monitoring fleet utilisation to ensure effective use of equipment & resources
  • Ensuring that revenue is optimised on each departure without impacting on safety or the customer
  • Undertaking reviews of Operations financial performance of business on a regular basis, monitoring variance & taking necessary steps to ensure any negative deterioration in bottom line is rectified
  • Reporting any Customer related issues & instigating appropriate Corrective Action Procedures
  • Establishing best practice Quality, Occupational Health and Safety, & Environmental (QHSE) Policies in the Jolly & Sons workplace
  • Complying with the requirements of OHS legal notices (e.g., Provisional Improvement Notices (PIN), Improvement Notices and Prohibition Notices) & reporting notifiable incidents to WorkSafe WA
  • Providing & maintaining vehicles & systems of work that are safe & do not pose risks to health
  • Providing a workplace which has adequate facilities & is in a condition that is safe & without risks to health
  • Be responsible for implementation, control, monitoring, & review of the food safety policy
  • Ensure that all staff are trained in the food handling techniques & the requirements of food safety

And here's what we require from you:

  • 10+ years of road transport industry management experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong comprehension on the required legal obligations (both from a Health & Safety aspect and Corporate Compliance)
  • Strong understanding of industry specific regulations
  • Good understanding of all Management systems, QA, OSH and Environment
  • Advanced Office computer skills
  • Strong understanding of business financial information
