About the Role:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated engineer to join our Customer Planning and Power Quality team in a full time and permanent capacity based at our Market Street Head Office.

Working alongside other Engineers, this role plans for our customers energy future by preparing our networks for growth in Customer Energy Resources. You will have a key focus on a proactive response to maintain high levels of customer power quality and ensure that emerging constraints affecting our customers network experience are addressed timely and efficiently.

Overall, this position is responsible for ensuring customers on the United Energy, Powercor and CitiPower networks are empowered to able to make their own energy choices.

The ideal person for this role will have a strong technical background and experience in the electricity distribution industry, particularly involving Customer Energy Resources. In addition, this candidate will have strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work across the organisation to influence effectively at all levels both internal and external to the business.

In this role you will deliver:

Manage the response to customer power quality issues and the resultant works across the United Energy, Powercor and CitiPower networks Undertake detailed analysis of the current and forecast impacts of Solar PV, Electric Vehicles and demand growth on network performance and power quality, as well as preparing planning reports, strategies, and policy documents to improve our customers network experience Manage installation and co-ordination of power quality logging equipment and software, including calibration, maintenance, and training to field staff Use AMI data and develop analytics to diagnose and communicate existing or emerging customer constraints Develop solutions to customer constraints that are economically efficient, through preparation of detailed business cases using our businesses approved economic evaluation tools and models Perform power system simulations using analysis software, and analyse results from power quality monitoring equipment to diagnose emerging power quality issues Readily share knowledge of customer planning and power quality within the business.

To succeed in this role you will have:

A Bachelor qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline Have or when eligible obtain and maintain a Registered engineering credential with the Victorian Building Licensing Authority Developing understanding of technical impacts of Customer Energy Resources (Solar PV, Electric Vehicles, batteries) on customer power quality Additional qualifications or studies in advanced power system simulation and analysis software, in particular PSS SINCAL would be advantageous. Assess customer and network data to identify emerging issues. Including AMI data, SCADA, and Power Quality Monitoring data. Ability to prepare business cases and strategic plans aligned to AER expenditure methodologies. A team player that strives on continuous improvement initiatives, who enjoys and can effectively communication, and stakeholder management skills.
