POSITION DESCRIPTION - Active Ageing Officer***
Purpose
The City of Marion has a strong commitment to building resilient communities and developing a healthy and
safe environment for people to live and work. The Positive Ageing and Inclusion Team plays a key role in
this. The position will focus on building the capacity, wellbeing, independence and social connectedness of
City of Marion residents particularly those over 65, younger people with a disability and their carers.

The Active Ageing Officer will provide administrative and business support to the Coordinator Social
Participation to ensure processes including the planning, booking, confirming and promoting of programs,
ensuring groups and activities are streamlined, efficient and provide a positive client experience. The role
will also provide support to volunteers, hosting and facilitating information sessions, programs and
workshops and responding to enquiries.

community and to improve residents' quality of life; continuously, smartly and efficiently in the scope of your
daily work.

Key Outcomes

  • Work within the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) guidelines and Programme Manual.
  • Promote the wellness and reablement focus to all clients.
  • Encourage and support independence and social connectedness.
  • Support consumer choice and decision making while promoting the the City of Marion CHSP.
  • Assist in the recruitment, induction and record keeping for CHSP volunteers.
  • Record, update and utilize CRM/Client data base and the My Aged Care (MAC) portal as required.
  • Record, report and maintain statistical information and electronic client files.
  • Assist the Coordinator Social Participation to plan, develop, facilitate and host a suite of wellbeing
workshops and programs.

  • Ensure the efficient planning, booking, confirming of venues, guest speakers, facilitators and liaise with
program coordinators.

  • Provide information, resources and liaise with Neighbourhood Centre staff and volunteers to ensure the
community has seamless access to the services and programs offered by the Positive Ageing and
Inclusion team.

  • Provide support to develop, undertake and compile evaluations.
  • Provide team member role coverage to ensure efficient daily operation and client care across the team.
  • Undertake other reasonable and relevant duties as required to support the team.
  • Manage and process bookings, enquiries, feedback and complaints.

POSITION DESCRIPTION - Active Ageing Officer*****Essential Requirements
**This is a prescribed position as defined by the City of Marion Safe Environments for Children and
Vulnerable Persons Policy. The incumbent is required to promote and maintain a child safe environment
and take relevant actions in accordance with Council's Safe Environments for Children and Vulnerable
Persons Policy and with legislative requirements under the Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017
and the Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016.

As part of Council's Safe Environment for Children and other Vulnerable People policy will require;

  • A satisfactory Department of Human Services (DHS) Child Related, Disability and Aged Care Sector
Employment Screening, every three years.

  • Child Safe Environments Training with a threeyearly update.
  • Australian residency.
  • Sound knowledge of the issues faced by special needs clients e.g. Disability, CALD.
  • Advanced communication skills both written and verbal.
