**POSITION DESCRIPTION

Purpose
The Operations Supervisor will support the Team Leader Marion Outdoor Pool to ensure compliance with
all legislative and industry requirements for the safe and efficient management of the Marion Outdoor Pool.
This role assists with the effective development and management of safe work procedures, emergency,
chemical and environmental management systems and work health and safety initiatives.

The outcome is to increase income generation opportunities and provide improved customer experiences.
The position requires a positive team player who supports the provision of a safe and quality recreational
facility, which offers and implements diverse programs, activities and experiences for the community.

Key Outcomes
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for:_ _

  • Assisting the Team Leader (MOP) to ensure all plant, machinery and equipment is properly
maintained in accordance with SA Health regulations and ensuring the facility is compliant with
safe chemical storage and use.

  • Carrying out daily plant room tasks including operating and troubleshooting plant and machinery.
Carrying outwater quality checks and balancing water chemistry where required to ensure
compliance.

  • Ensuring the safe handling and storage of all hazardous chemicals at the Centre.
  • Ensure that the cleanliness of the facilities, plant and pool surrounds are maintained to the highest
possible standard.

  • Oversee the maintenance of the facility throughout the season and for preseason preparations.
Work with relevant Council departments and external contractors to complete works.

  • In the absence of the Team Leader, ensure the effective operation of the Centre.
  • Supervise staff and ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained at all times, leading Pool
Attendant Supervisors and Pool Attendants in accordance with the City of Marion values.

  • Leading and supervising work groups of over fifteen workers including workers carrying out
complex duties.

  • Ensure supervisory patterns and procedures are adhered to according to the 'Marion Outdoor Pool
Staff Manual' and Undertaking safe supervision of and coordinating patron activities and regular
user groups within the facility in accordance with rules, policies and procedures.

  • Inducting and training staff on plant equipment, machinery and chemicals following all relevant safe
operating and working procedures.

  • Administering first aid, including resuscitation and the administration of oxygen using appropriate
rescue techniques as required. Ensuring all safety equipment is checked, maintained and
restocked regularly.

  • Contributing to the development of business, marketing and promotions plans, programs and
annual budgets.

  • Assist in the development of revenue generation activities through identifying, attracting and
establishing new stakeholder relationships.

  • Maintain and develop relationships with the Centre's customers, particularly community groups and
providing excellence in customer service.

  • Supporting the development, implementation and review of safe work practices and procedures for
the facility and review of practices as required.

  • Comply with existing Work, Health and Safety legislation and regulation obligations and apply
"Think Safe Live Well" philosophy.
