Role:

Position Specific:

  • Modelling exemplary practice and values in inclusive education to support the development of an inclusive school culture.
  • To support the celebration of Harmony Day in collaboration with the EAL team.
  • To support a culturally diverse lens for professional learning.
  • Modelling effective, inclusive language whole school diversity and classroom practices promoting 'prosperity through diversity¿.
  • Providing advice and guidance to leadership to help ensure the college provide quality inclusive, culturally diverse practices to improve student engagement.
  • Work in collaboration with relevant teams (Wellbeing Team, Disability and Inclusion Team and subschools) to liaise with community organisations.

Other Duties

  • Actively engage students in the yard with activities and programs to support positive behaviours.
  • Assess and engage students in cocurricular activities, such as homework club, and sports.
  • Represent the college at community events as requested.
  • Any other duties within the ES 13 scope, as requested by the principal.

Responsibilities:

College Wide but with a particular focus on Years 8-10

Under the guidance and leadership of the Assistant Principals;

  • Identify and explore cultural connections for students individually and in small groups.
  • To provide guidance and support to disengaged students from culturally diverse backgrounds in the classroom and the yard.
  • To plan and facilitate engaging break time and afterschool activities for students as required.
  • To provide culturally specific guidance and support to the subschool teams in the support of students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Identify appropriate inschool programs and partnerships with culturally diverse agencies and supporting implementation as guided by the Assistant Principal.
  • To provide support and assistance to teachers of disengaged students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Support students and their families to link with external agencies when required.
  • To develop an understanding of culturally diverse student needs and remove barriers to enable them to thrive.
  • To collaborate with the EAL Team, Wellbeing Team and Disability and Inclusion Team as required.
  • To support students to deescalate as required.
  • Liaise with the families of students to support them connect the programs, such as parenting programs with schools, or supporting with the transitions and other events such as parent teacher interviews, Y67 transition, camps.
  • Attend school organised excursions or camps with the students if required by the school management or leadership under the supervision of a teacher to continue the positive relationship with the students.
