About the Role


The position provides administrative support to the Community Safety and Compliance teams to process a broad range of written or verbal customer enquiries and ensure timely processing of permits, notices, invoicing, infringements and other enforcement documents.

The position is a key customer service role for the broader unit.

Reporting to the Team Leaders in the Community Safety & Compliance Unit, the core responsibilities include:

  • Respond to phone calls and/or counter enquiries from ratepayers, members of the public and colleagues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Research, assess and respond to customer queries within corporate timelines.
  • Process incoming and outgoing correspondence using the Corporate Information System.
  • Provide efficient and accurate data entry using the organisation's corporate data base systems.
  • Provide administration support to the wider Community Safety and Compliance Teams.
  • Perform administrative duties including photocopying, mail, organising meetings and taking minutes at meetings.
  • Process and maintain data within the Shire's corporate systems.
  • Issue notices, infringements or other enforcement related documents as required.
  • Process payments as required from time to time.
  • Perform any other administrative duties as required.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in providing professional administrative services; preferably in regulatory, civil infrastructure or building development fields.
  • The ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems using policies and procedures with guidance.
  • Experience in local government or other complex organisations is desirable.
