**About the Role**
The Community Animal Shelter Attendant assists the Community Animal Shelter Operations Supervisor in the day to day running of the Community Animal Shelter and Pound and cares for lost/unowned pets while they wait to be reunited with their owners or to find their forever homes.
The core responsibilities include:
- Daily feeding, watering and inspection of the animals.
- Enrichment of animals available for adoption.
- Cleaning of pens, cages and waste disposal in accordance with the Code of Practice.
- Collection of contained dogs and cats.
- Impounding and releasing of animals.
- Communication with the public with relation to enquiries regarding the services provided by the pound/shelter.
- Update database with relevant information as required.
- Be available to take part in rostered work on weekends, public holidays and after-hours when required.
**Position Description**: Community Animal Shelter Attendant
**About You**
- Demonstrated skills for handling of domestic pets and livestock.
- After appropriate training, handle equipment and utilise facilities as required for the performance of the role.
- A working knowledge of the processes and practices required to operate a pound or similar facility.
- Good communication and general administration skills.
- Industry experience relating to the care, cleaning, feeding and hygiene of domestic animals and/or livestock.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a small, dedicated team.
- Current drivers licence, Police Check and Working with Children Check.
- Ability to take part in rostered work on weekends, public holidays and after-hours when required.
