Join our Public Health Protection Unit as one of our Environmental Health Officers where you will implement services to businesses registered under the Food Act 1984 and Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.
You will provide a high level of customer service whilst providing information, advice, inspections and assessments to businesses registered under the Food Act.
About the role:
- Contribute to the attainment of objectives in the Food Safety, Public Health related legislation.
- Coordinate, develop, review and implement policies and procedures as applicable to the allocated portfolio areas that support the public health programs and enforcement of legislation.
- Investigate referred notifiable diseases, outbreaks and referrals.
- Contribute to the collection of monthly statistics and reports.
- Assist where necessary in the investigation of Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 nuisance complaints.
- Participate in the review and implementation of Councils Public Health Emergency Management sub plan.
- Permanent part time hours per week (must work Thursdays)
- Salary range $91,947 to $99,963 pro rata plus super.
Skills, experience and certificates:
- Qualifications necessary for appointment as Environmental Health Officers as declared in the Victorian Government Gazette, 17 December 2020.
- Eligibility for membership of Environmental Health Practitioners Australia.
- A working knowledge of the tools and principles applied in: Food chemistry and microbiology, Epidemiology, Investigation techniques, Interview for prosecution, Education regarding food safety and infectious disease control.
- Identify potential food safety risks and implement risk management principles to address the risks.
- Understand long term direction of public health policy within local, state and federal governments.
- Must be able to work Thursdays.
