Risk and Compliance Officer

About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Risk and Compliance Officer to develop, implement, manage, and report on effective compliance, quality, and risk management frameworks within the College. Reporting to the Principal through the Director of Business Operations and Infrastructure, the successful candidate will ensure robust systems and processes that support our mission, vision, and strategic direction, while meeting legislative and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Management:
    • Create and maintain a Compliance register.
    • Lead the review and maintenance of the College Risk register.
    • Assess, monitor, and report on risk controls.
    • Conduct audits to ensure policy alignment with legislative requirements.
    • Provide advice on risk assessments for camps, trips, tours, excursions, and incursions.
    • Compliance Management:
      • Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements (e.g., VRQA, CECV, MACS).
      • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliance changes and advise accordingly.
      • Support the Property Manager in maintaining statutory compliance of facilities and equipment.
      • Administer compliance training for staff.
      • Prepare compliance data for educational and government authorities.
      • OH&S Management:
        • Prepare reports on OH&S for the Principal and Leadership Team.
        • Support staff in identifying and addressing safety issues.
        • Coordinate regular safety inspections.
        • Manage the Incident Reporting System.
        • Assist in the development and implementation of the Emergency Evacuation Plan (EMP) and Critical Incidents Plan (CIP).
        • Policy Management:
          • Oversee the design and implementation of policies, especially related to Child Safety and OH&S.
          • Ensure all policies are regularly reviewed, documented, and available to staff.
          • Advise on potential policy gaps and the need for new policies.

              • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

              • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
              • Organizational Skills:
                • Strong administrative and organizational abilities.
                • Capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
                • Technical Skills:
                  • Proficiency in Information & Communication Technologies.
                  • Ability to conduct and interpret audits and risk assessments.

                    Desirables

                    • Experience:
                      • At least three years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety/Compliance, preferably in an educational setting.
                      • Qualifications:
                        • Formal qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety/Compliance.
                        • Valid Working With Children Check and current National Police Record Check.
                        • Personal Attributes:
                          • Commitment to the philosophy and ethos of a Catholic school.
                          • Demonstrated leadership in promoting a culture of risk awareness and compliance.
                          • Desire for continuous improvement and innovation.
