The Opportunity

As the Aboriginal Research Fellow, you will work collaboratively with the College and the Associate Professor Aboriginal Health Leadership, to develop and implement a College of Health and Medicine, Aboriginal Research Strategy and Framework. In addition, you will:

Contribute to a research response to the Rural Health Research Plan and the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program (RHMT) Aboriginal Health Parameter. Support the attraction, retainment, and increase of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students.  Provide academic support, mentoring and/or supervision to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander HDR students. Support the College to establish, maintain and deepen relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, organisations and community. Collaborate to secure funding, publish high quality research findings, and contribute to the successful supervision of research honours, master and PhD students. Undertake high-quality research of national and international standing. Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with Aboriginal community, interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and wider community.

What’s Required

A well-developed understanding of the operational, strategic and policy environment in which the educational, social and economic development requirements of Indigenous people can be addressed within the University context. A degree and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or training in business and/or project management or a related field, with extensive knowledge and experience of Indigenous research guidelines and practices in a higher education context. A record of successful project delivery, with specific experience in research management, business improvement and organisational change. A proven ability to manage business operations with demonstrated capability in strategic and financial planning, preparing briefing papers and presentations and sourcing, analysing and summarising data to support the preparation of high-level documentation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated capacity to engage effectively with Indigenous students, staff and community. Ability to perform a diverse range of tasks independently with precision, attention to detail and demonstrating sound judgement and decision-making ability. A solution focused approach with capacity to use discretion and initiative.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B or Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $173,682 comprising base salary within the range of $108,285 to $148,446 plus 17% superannuation.
