The Opportunity


The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will lead the evaluation of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participation among Australians living with multiple sclerosis (MS).

The incumbent will be required to develop and analyse survey data through a series of studies, and conduct semi structured interviews and qualitative analysis.

Findings will be translated through the development of a massive open online course (MOOC) about accessing the NDIS, aimed at people living with MS, their carers and supporters.

The Research Fellow will join the Menzies MS Research Flagship and contribute to the strategic vision of the Flagship, to reduce the impact of MS for individuals and the community.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Undertake highquality research of national and increasingly of international standing, secure external competitive and other funding, publish research findings and contribute to the successful supervision of research higher degree students.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community.
  • Foster strong and effective collaborations with key stakeholder groups.
  • Work closely with the Australian MS Longitudinal Study (AMSLS) and Understanding MS MOOC project teams.
  • Be the primary contact person for the internal and external stakeholders, providing progress reports and responding to their enquiries in a timely manner.

Your Application

  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • A good record of, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved national recognition and made worthwhile contributions to the field of Science Communication, or Knowledge Translation, or Epidemiology, demonstrated by a record of quality publications, presentations at conferences.
  • Expertise in the statistical analysis of longitudinal data or similar complex datasets, and exposure to translating evidence into policy and/or practice.
  • Expertise in designing, conducting and analysing qualitative research projects, including semi structured interviews.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.

Remuneration


Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $142,799 pro rata comprising base salary within the range of $105,131 to $122,050 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
