We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research (Menzies), part of the College of Health and Medicine. Menzies is one of Australia's leading health and medical research institutes and is recognised worldwide for its research excellence. Menzies' mission is to perform internationally significant medical research leading to healthier, longer and better lives for all Tasmanians. Research takes a bench-to-bedside and disease prevention approach that is aimed at improving patient care and clinical outcomes for the community by translating knowledge into clinical and policy actions and through the commercial application of discoveries.
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will support a two-stage project focusing on financial challenges related to employment in prostate cancer. This role will complete work addressing project aims, including recruitment of men with prostate cancer and Tasmanian employers, and interviews with research participants.
What you'll do:
Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives Undertake high-quality research of national and increasingly of international standing, secure external competitive and other funding, publish research findings and contribute to the successful supervision of research Contribute to implementation of two related studies, including support for study execution. Coordinate and prepare ethics and governance applications, progress reports and manuscripts. Undertake data management including the collection and analysis of data. Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession Undertake literature searches and critically appraise and synthesise the literature. Conduct telephone interviews with study participants and undertake general administrative duties Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor.What we're looking for:
A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field along with relevant experience. A good record of, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved national recognition and made worthwhile contributions to the field of employer-focused research A record of contributing to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally Demonstrated experience in managing research projects, including ethics and governance processes, contractual agreements, development of surveys, recruitment, data management and quality control. Demonstrated experience in mixed-methods research, including qualitative data analysis skills and experience. Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to be self-directed, manage competing priorities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a range of people and organisations and maintain effective working relationships.Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level A and will have a total remuneration package of up to $118,769 comprising base salary within the range of $78,499 to $101,512 plus 17% superannuation.
