Postdoctoral Research Fellow - threatened species ecology

The Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) is a centre for both marine research and education.

As part of the College of Sciences and Engineering, IMAS delivers world class programs, resulting in highly trained graduates who serve the needs of academic institutions, industry, government, and the community.


The Opportunity


The position will engage in project design and management, research, partnership, and impact activities associated with the design and implementation of field-based measures that aid the recovery of red handfish populations and restore their habitats.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Undertake highquality research/scholarly activities under limited supervision either independently or as a member of a team.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally.
  • Other tasks as directed by the supervisor according to the expectations for a Level A academic.

Your Application

  • A PhD (or nearing completion) or equivalent in a relevant field and/or professional experience.
  • A record of, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved national and international recognition and made worthwhile contributions to threatened species conservation and research.
  • The ability and understanding of research in the field of conservation and wildlife ecology, preferably with SCUBA diving field experience.
  • Project design and management experience, as well as marine fieldwork management experience.
  • Scientific Diver qualifications, or ability to be on the UTAS dive register (including relevant qualifications and ability to successful pass a commercial dive medical).

Remuneration


Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level A and will have a total remuneration package of up to $115,310 pro rata comprising base salary within the range of $76,213 to $98,555 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
