We have 4 locations across Sydney: Kogarah, Lakemba, Miranda and Randwick as well as a community care program across the Sydney metropolitan suburbs and Canberra ACT.

About the role:

The WHS Business partner is a part of the People, Engagement & Culture (PEC) team.  In this role you will be leading our safety management system whilst ensuring the safety, health, and wellbeing of our workforce. You will drive positive change and education in safety performance, leadership, and culture through developing and maintaining key WHS documentation, including policies, procedures, guidance and training material.  You will be our go to person for the WHS function to lead and promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our valued teams.

Working across all our sites, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing specialist expertise and advice on a broad range of WHS matters, including in risk management and policy development.
  • Development of our new WHS management framework
  • Supporting our WHS Committees, to ensure our processes and practices align with WHS legislation and the organisational WHS management framework
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of WHS risk management and risk assessment activities
  • Having an in-depth knowledge of roles and functions within our business and understanding of how the work environment impacts staff safety and WHS requirements
  • Developing strong partnerships across the business and implement a range of WHS initiatives aligned with the WHS management system
  • Developing, delivering, coordinating, planning and assessing WHS training programs
  • Identify and implement WHS improvement initiatives

Qualifications and experience required:

To be successful in this position, you will bring the following:

  • Ability to proactively educate, guide and provide supportive advice that drives quality WHS initiatives and programs
  • Skills to negotiate, influence and drive change, whilst being collaborative, to achieve strategic WHS goals
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant WHS legislation, guidelines and WHS management practices
  • Demonstrated experience in WHS risk management, policy development and implementation
  • Relevant Degree or Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) with demonstrated diverse and experience in safety
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships, engage, motivate, and influence others to achieve positive safety outcomes
  • Ability to develop and deliver of WHS programs and initiatives
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in the development of preventative strategies to minimise WHS risks in the workplace
